PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN DETECTION.
The HMPO Test Strategy is a high level document that describes the testing approach of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). It is created to inform stakeholders the key processes and deliverables. Key issues of the testing process. This includes the testing objective, methods of testing new functions, total time and resources required for the project, and the testing environment.
In HMPO we are focusing on prevention of defects but being on the early stages of the Project Lifecycle. The cost of preventing defects at this stage can save thousands of pounds per defect compared to finding defects in LIVE. HMPO has adopted a tool called RAT ( Requirements Ambiguity Tool) which is also being rolled out to all the projects to assist in reducing defects in the early project lifecycle. Additionally, all defects will have root cause analysis completed to understand origin of the defect. This is an iterative /adoptive process that will refine over time , with test metrics being produced at specific stages.
The TDCS Service Standard is a set of criteria for TDCS delivery teams to meet when delivering QA and testing services. Meeting the standard means that teams are working towards a professional, consistent and high quality benchmark. Whilst the standard will be fully applied in some teams it is something to work towards in projects with other needs and how the standard is applied will always be context-driven and dependant on the needs of the customer.
'Service Now’ is a Test Management Tool being adopted in the HMPO portfolio
